Just Hanging Around…
That’s me arm and arm with a huge boulder wall on the Cassidy Arch Trail along the Grand Wash, in Capitol Reef National Park in Utah.
A place where dangerous flash floods occur without much warning except for a sign posted outside the main entrance…“If it’s raining, don’t go on the trail“.
As we passed the sign it started to drizzle. We kept going anyway.
It kind of sums up how I approach the unknowns in my life.
But when it came to my writing, for some reason I wasn’t that bold.
I can tell you I have loved to write since I learned how to print. Sitting on my favorite rock next to a creek behind my childhood house, I would write everything racing through my mind.
When I was ten years old sitting on the edge of my Mom’s bed while she folded clothes, I told her my dream. “I want to be a writer.” I said.
She stopped folding the clothes and frowned, “You’re too young. You have to have something to write about. You need some life experience.”
From that moment on I started my adventure to get a whole bunch of experiences that I could write about. My Mom disagreed with my starting date. She thinks I started my adventure when I was four years old in our family van.
My friend Shery and I were playing in the van parked on a hillside. Too little to reach the gas pedal, Sherry controlled the break and I was behind the steering wheel. Somehow it came out of park and we started rolling down the hill. Two houses down I turned the wheel and we ended up in Sherry’s driveway. Our guardian angels were working overtime that day.
Writing Wasn’t An Acceptable Career Choice…
according to my Dad. He encouraged me to be a secretary, cook or teacher…women’s work he said. So my writing was mostly done for friends, family special occasions, Youth Group newsletters, and a college newspaper back then.
It was only in the last couple of years that I started to question why I still wasn’t sharing my work with the universe.
Maybe it’s because I don’t hear the naysayers anymore. It could be as I get older my hearing is becoming more shall I say…selective.
Since then I’ve started my journey sharing what comes out through my fingers. With all those years of research experiencing life, I have plenty to write about.
You’ll find Wellness, Writing, Stories of Adventure, Gardening and in short terms…life. You’ll never know what you’ll find when you visit my site.
I’m just so excited to finally start sharing my adventures.
Just come and visit often.
All the best.
